Rick's cover photo was taken in July 2012 at the original Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum in Two Rivers, Wisconsin (the original facility was demolished in 2015). For a book series celebrating Hamilton, Rick manipulated the image using a variety of techniques.
Hamilton is dedicated to the preservation, study, production, and printing of wood type. At their annual Wayzgoose in 2014, I participated in a terrific bookbinding workshop taught by Mary Sullivan (“tomboy” on Etsy), was enchanted by Coptic binding, and later launched aBoBoBook.

Book Details:
- single-needle coptic binding
- using maroon thread
- black front and back cover stock
- dimensions are approximately 4" x 6"
- comprised of six signatures
- totaling 120 pages
- French's Speckletone paper
The result is a soft-cover coptic-bound blank book that lies flat when opened.
Bound blank paper should encourage the pleasures of handwriting, doodling, and creative thinking, but a common refrain is "Oh, it's too nice to write in" ... aBoBoBook Bargains are offered in a shameless attempt to reduce those inhibitions — and the purchase price (our Shop Announcement has lots of suggestions for putting your blank book to use).
