Northern Pacific's Alco #328

The journal cover is a wrap-around photograph detail of Northern Pacific's Alco 328 4-6-0 (1907), made by Rick Graves.

The book was bound by Joni Graves, using the so-called Secret Belgian Binding, and is approximately 6.5x6.5" with 48 pages of heavy black paper (pages are approximately 6" wide and 6.5" tall). The result is a hard-cover blank book that will accommodate the addition of photographs or ephemera.

The steam locomotive was used on NP's branch lines in Washington, Idaho, Montana, and the Dakotas. It was retired in 1950, saved from scrap by the Minnesota Railfan's Association, and donated to city of Stillwater, Minnesota. In 1976 the locomotive was leased by the Minnesota Transportation Museum and restored to operation.
